History
Originally formed as the “Indianapolis Home Builders” in 1922, the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis is possibly the oldest organized builder group in the United States.

In 1926 the first show home was built through the cooperative efforts of the association and made available for public viewing. In 1963 it evolved into the current Home-A-Rama program, a single –site home show featuring the newest technological and construction properties, as well as, interior design elements.

Mission
In 2005 the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis boasts over 1,000 member firms making it the largest local home builders association in Indiana. Its mission is to work to provide an environment where members of the residential construction industry and related business’s can conduct their business efficiently and ethically to provide the community with reliable, safe, affordable residential construction accomplished by competent professionals in the industry.

Jurisdiction
The jurisdiction of BAGI includes Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Morgan and Shelby counties.

Steve Schutz as a Member
As a member, Steve Schutz agrees to adhere to the Quality Assurance Builder Standards. These standards provide new home buyers and remodeling customers a written set of standards addressing prevalent issues that arise. The standards are a series of performance measurements builders and customers can use to communicate and understand each other’s expectations.

Steve Schutz belongs to the trade association on a voluntary basis because of his belief in builders being professionals. As such he supports the extensive programs offered through the association and involving (1) continuing education (2) scholarships to worthy young people looking to enter the industry (3) builder/remodeler standards (4) direct involvement and support of a multitude of community projects and events (5) professionally presented educational programs for the public, including home shows and work related to major housing related issues of the time such as affordable housing, mortgage foreclosure issues, economic development, etc.

As a BAGI member, Steve Schutz is also a member of the Indiana Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders.
